“There are plenty of varied and rewarding shore-based jobs in the marine industries such as maritime law, business administration, surveying ships or training future seafarers.”

Courses

“Engineers have the potential to generate an extra £27bn for the UK economy. The average container ship will travel three quarters of the way to the moon and back every year during its trips across the world’s oceans.”

Uniformed and Public Services courses

We offer courses that are ideal for those looking for a career in either the armed or civilian public services such as the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Air Force and all branches of the Army. We also support careers in civilian public services such as the Fire Service, Police and Ambulance Service, Prison Service, Coast Guard and the legal system. For the first time, we will include Nautical Studies as part of the Public Services (Uniformed) – BTEC Extended Diploma – Level 3 qualification.

“We are one of only approximately fifty schools and colleges in the UK to be awarded Platinum Partner status by the Royal Air Force.”

Prince’s Trust

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme is a 12-week personal development course, offering work experience, qualifications, practical skills, community projects and a residential week. Young people aged 16 to 25 are eligible.

Duke of Edinburgh Awards

A Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is so much more than a ‘pat on the back’ for completing a programme of activities. It is recognition of a young person’s successful journey of self-discovery and development, renowned by employers and universities alike for the qualities young people have who’ve achieved a D of E Award.

Its balanced programme develops the whole person – mind, body and soul, in an environment of social interaction and team working. There are three progressive levels of D of E programmes which, when successfully completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Apprenticeships

Anyone over 16 can apply for an apprenticeship. The programme starts once employment begins and in some cases apprentices can start learning without being employed.
